The duration of UG Medicine course in Vietnam is 6 years.

The duration of the course in medicine leading to the award of an UG Medicine degree is of 6 years duration
in all medical University. The duration of the course is uniform for all students i.e. whether local students or
foreign students.

Medical Colleges teach in English Medium as well as Vietnamese. For international Students English Medium

is available.

Up to 3rd year, the students take fundamental and basic pre-clinical subjects, acquire clinical skills in Clinical
Skills Centers. Starting from the 4th year of study, UG Medicine students start clinical rotations (internship).
During 9-12th semesters (5th and 6th years of study) students have clerkships/internship in clinical settings

Foreigners or overseas Vietnamese who wish to be granted a medical practice license would have to take

professional competency tests organized by the National Medical Council, Vietnam. Particularly for
herbalists and those providing medical examination and treatment services by applying heirloom remedies
or therapies, but for medical graduate licenses would be granted on the basis of degree document.
After obtaining a license, medical practitioners must make registration via the information system on
management of medical examination and treatment services. A medical practice license would be valid for
five years and might be extended. However, those applying for extension of licenses must satisfy the
requirement on updating of medical knowledge. Specifically, they are required to show proofs of
participation in short-term refresher courses or professional conferences and seminars, scientific researches
or teaching activities in relevant fields.
